Great article ! I have just suffered an SBO but now OK. In 2012 I had a cancer tumour removed along with half of my rectum. Unfortunately the anastomosis failed and I got peritonitis but survived. Since then I have 5 operations in total including two separate ileostomies and a colostomy, and a remake of the anastomosis. Now I am bag free and lead a fairly normal life, but probably have a whole shed load of adhesions lurking inside me.
I have a no fibre no fruit diet which has worked great for a year. Then last week I decided that maybe I was not getting the vitamins that I need and ate some fruit - OK I overdid it by eating a banana, an orange and an apple in one day. The following day I began to get bloated and then began to distend painfully and start to vomit. A&E ASAP NG tube and IV fluids sorted it out thankfully.
No more fruit for the time being.
